Just thought I’d make a post regarding what I’ve been up to this year. I have been in the United States Of America since July 2015 for a study abroad program which I was very lucky to be accepted onto, and have been making the most of this opportunity since I got here. I completed two Semesters at the Pennsylvania College Of Technology and have also been working as an EMT for the college responding to 911 emergencies and volunteering with the fire department.

Some may wonder why I have been volunteering as an EMT/Firefighter and wondering if that’s what I want to do instead of Cyber Security. However, I find it important to be able to do things outside of studying and going out of your comfort zone is very important. Being able to do something new and exciting and learn important skills is what drew me to volunteering as well as making a difference in the local community and paying my way back for being able to come to the USA.

I’ve learnt so many skills from being part of the US 911 system, such as leadership, teamwork, being outside comfort zone, and attention to detail.

I still have another month back before I leave the US, and I’ve come to realise just how I love it here. The people, culture and different way of doing things really has grown on me and I hope to come back and live in the USA, working in the cyber security field here.

I’m very proud to have completed all the goals I set before coming to the USA by finishing college in the US and passing Vehicle Rescue, Firefighter I, and EMT-B. I created a video below, which sums up what I’ve been up to with the Fire Department.
